The Official Biography:
Dr. Whitaker is a licensed psychologist and alcohol and drug counselor who holds a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University New England. Cynthia has worked for Greater Nashua Mental Health Center since 2006 where she is currently the Chief of Services, which includes overseeing the daily clinical operations of the Center. In this role, Cynthia also serves as the Clinical Supervisor for the treatment component of the Southern Hillsborough County Drug Court. In addition, Cynthia is an adjunct faculty member at Rivier University where she teaches a doctoral level course in Community Psychology. Cynthia also served as an adjunct faculty member at Antioch University for five years where she taught Developmental Psychology, a Professional Seminar, and an Advanced Seminar on Mindfulness. During her career at Greater Nashua Mental Health Center, Cynthia was previously the Coordinator of Deaf Services for the State of New Hampshire, a program that is dedicated to improving the access and quality of mental health services for people who are deaf in New Hampshire. Cynthia is fluent in American Sign Language and continues to be involved in advocating for and providing training about mental health services for individuals who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing, as well as teaching and training about various other topics related to behavioral health.
The "Real" Biography:
Cynthia is a mom on a journey like everyone else. She loves to learn and teach. She has been with her husband, Jason, since she was 13 years old. Together they have 3 children, a beautiful daughter, Samantha, who lives with them and stillborn twin girls, Ashley and Hannah, who live with Jesus. Cynthia may be a doctor who teaches others about childhood development, psychology, mindfulness, and parenting, but she makes mistakes like everyone else; she benefits from learning from others just as others benefit from learning from her. She believes in God and her faith gives her strength that she would otherwise not possess.
